High School Tutor
It is important to understand how the High School system of subjects works. In primary school, learners start their General Education and Training phase of schooling (GET), which continues right through primary school and includes grades 8 & 9 in high school. From Grade 10 onwards they enter and continue with the Further Education and Training phase (FET) until they write Matric Exams. There are eight learning areas or subjects that are commonly taught in grades 4 to 9, and these are:
- Languages
- Mathematics
- Economic and Management Services
- Life Sciences
- Technology
- Life Orientation
- Arts and Culture
- Social Sciences
On passing into grade 10 learners must elect to study at least seven subjects, of which the first four must be two Official languages, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation.
They must take at least three other subjects. In FET at the end of the years exams count 75% of the total year mark, the remaining 25% being made up of tests and other work done during the year. FET learners who suffer problems through exam pressure, falling behind in a subject or some other reason may require a high school tutor in order to increase their self-confidence and understanding of a subject. Every high school tutor from Hire Education has proven to us their teaching ability in their chosen high school subject, and must have shown us that they are not only able to explain concepts on a learners level, but can also assess the reasons why a particular learner has fallen behind.
Our high school tutors set the respective learner goals to help him or her get through the work in time. They also fill in any gaps that might have occurred, and they ensure that learners keep up to date with their current work. If you feel that a high school tutor could help your child.
