Extra Science Lessons
Science is one of the subjects in which the syllabus is taught in such a way that it is based on building blocks. What this means is that what is taught in block B is based on what has been taught in block A, and what is taught in block C is based on what has been taught in block B and A, and so on. What this means is that if one of the building blocks is missing, those that follow it start to fall down – in other words if a learner misses a specific module or lesson for any reason (for example if the child was ill or just didn't understand the module) this will affect his or her ability to achieve success in a later module. This is a time when extra Science lessons are called for. One-on-one tuition in such a case is vital, because only in such circumstances can the tutor trace the origin of the problem then go back and fix it with extra Science lessons.
Extra Science lessons give the tutor the ability to go back to the module that was the cause of the problem, work the learner through it, making sure it is now understood, then gradually working through the following modules employing the relevant knowledge to those modules until the learner is up-to-date.
