Private English Tutors Improve NCS Language Skills

Services / English

Learners taking the final FETC Examination at school are required to do seven subjects, four of which are compulsory.

Two of the compulsory subjects are the language of learning and teaching or LOLT, and one other South African language. English is the LOLT at many of our schools and is the second taught language at many others.

Where it is the LOLT, learners must obtain a pass mark of between 40 and 49%, and where it is the second language 30 to 39%.

Many learners struggle to achieve these marks, especially where English is not their home language. Being one of the four compulsory subjects, English classes are almost always filled to capacity, making the teacher's task all the more difficult, especially when it comes to providing one on one attention to each child in the class.

All of Hire Education's English tutors are trained and assessed and are familiar with the National Curriculum Statement and its implications. When your child takes extra English lessons, the first thing that our tutor does is to look at the problems the child is having and then assess the best way of correcting them. This is done during the first three sessions.

After that we will give you comprehensive feedback and answer any questions that you might have regarding your child's progress. Our goal is to guide your child into a position where he or she can sit their final English exams with confidence.
