High School Tutoring

When a learner enters High School he or she spends the first two years completing the Senior phase of GET that they started in Grade 7. There are eight learning areas or subjects that are common to the Intermediate and Senior phases, and these are:

  • Languages
  • Mathematics
  • Economic and Management Sciences
  • Life Sciences
  • Technology
  • Life Orientation
  • Arts and Culture
  • Social Sciences

When learners move up to grade 10 they are required to do seven subjects. The first four are the two Official languages, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation. They must take at least three other subjects. The end of year examinations at FET level count 75% of the total year mark, the remainder being made up of formal assessment tasks done and assessed during the year. Learners who don't cope well with exam pressure may require high school tutoring from one of our tutors in order to increase their confidence. This high school tutoring enables our tutors to create conditions where learners experience something similar to exam pressure.

Our tutors also teach study methods in high school tutoring, setting the learner goals to enable him to get through the work in time. Hire Education covers all High School subjects from grades 8 to 12. They will fill in any gaps their pupils may have in the syllabus, making sure that they keep up to date with their current work and preparing them for tests and their final exam.
